As we talk just under 66% of youngsters younger than 14 are living in a similar family with their natural guardians. This exploration was done by Organization for Economic Development and Co-activity (OEDC). The figures shows that 68.9 percent o f children under 14 live with both normal guardians in United Kingdom while 70.7 of a similar age section live with the two guardians in the United States, and 79.5 in France. These insights structure the premise of our basic conversation. In this paper we look at and clarify the significance of family unit and its capacities in British society. The paper proceeds to explain whether the decay of family unit adds to the more extensive British social breakdown. Differentiation and investigation of the nature and elements of the family unit with other family types or structures Comparatively family unit shows two or three similitudes and stands out from other family structures. A short depiction of family unit is that it be characterized as a family that is made out of two arrangements of relatives, guardians and youngsters, living respectively in a similar home. Collaboration inside family is normally boundless and generally extremely close to home. This can be portrayed by the nearby lead experienced every once in a while, for example, sharing family unit utilities and offices. Relatives in a family unit are commonly more liberated with one another and frames nearer ties when contrasted with different kinds of family structure. The center capacity of atomic is essentially supporting each other mentally, socially, and financially. This comes helpful with regards to executing fundamental endeavors, for example, legacy of property where each part is required to get an offer. In contrast with other family structures this activity is less perplexing. In more distant families such issues as legacy can be named as bad dream, this is most likely in view of the bigger numbers. More distant family is the other significant kind of family structure. It tends to be depicted as a family with more than guardians and posterity. One regular separating factor among atomic and more distant family is the degree of sets portrayal in every one of them. It is additionally certain that numbers do fluctuate. Once in a while will you find family units with less individuals than more distant family or bad habit section. As far as connections, more distant families have â€Å"weaker† relations when contrasted with family unit. As far as capacities the two vary a piece. In family unit the attention is essentially on the â€Å"immediate† individuals yet in stretched out the center spreads out to address the issues of everybody in the family. The other quick creating structure of family is single-parent family. As the name hints, it is made out of a solitary parent and kids. From measurements, they are progressively female single guardians when contrasted with male guardians. Once in a while this family type is alluded as a wrecked atomic in light of the fact that frequently it is an aftereffect of broken family unit. Single-parent family can be diverged from atomic by the way that in family unit the two guardians cooperate to benefit the kids while in single-parent family just one parent is included. Points of interest and hindrances of family unit contrasted with different sorts of nuclear family The family unit bears numerous favorable circumstances and true to form some drawback moreover. To begin is the quality of protection. Matters led inside a family unit are bound to be mystery, classified and private. Security is a key factor looked by a great many people since it brings the component of uprightness and making of individual space. Monetary dependability is another generally looked for after factor in marriage and society. Family unit gives the most helpful condition to money related soundness. The two guardians can spare, plan, and accommodate the youngsters. This makes the weight endurable for the guardians and shields the youngsters from pointless need. Another recognizable preferred position of family unit is opportunity, solace and shirking of pressure. Family unit makes that condition that is bound to be liberated from anxiety. As it were, individuals discover their approach to make an incredible most absent a lot of obstruction from other â€Å"external† powers. The disservice of family unit remembers absence of help from the bigger society for instance of projections, for example, disaster or passing. All the more regularly, family unit will in general be â€Å"clogged† to itself and individuals may do not have the â€Å"external† contact. This is may add to absence of social skills.Advertising We will compose a custom exposition test on Nuclear Family and British Social Breakdown explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More Possible impacts of the ‘breakdown’ of society The condition of society breakdown can be added to numerous elements. With the end goal of this paper we will examine the accompanying components: Changes of family structure, vocation improvement and woman's rights. Changes in family structure can be ascribed to the expanding danger of society breakdown. It is seen that a divided family will respect a divided society. This is a wellspring of worry to our general public. The customary family has been meddled with and now what we are seeing is new types of relationships and families. These new improvement have come about to the tragic truth of raising pace of separati ons. Eminently since 1960, there has been an enormous increment in divorces events in the Great Britain. Quite 1961 and 1969 the number multiplied and a similar increment was recorded in 1972. The pattern has kept on growing contacting its top at 1993 at 180,000. As indicated by specialists, a few couples are increasingly inclined to endure separate. The gathering that wedded youthful and had kids before the marriage or rehearsed dwelling together. The other helpless gathering is accomplices who have been hitched or experienced another separation. Profession advancement is the other primary supporter of society breakdown. Relationships and families for the most part request a ton of time and assets. In a similar tone, profession improvement is burdening and devours a ton of time. The quality and insight to adjust the two has lead numerous individuals to pick spurning marriage and family to the detriment of building up their professions. Comprehensively taking a gander at it, by the day's end the general public is harmed on the grounds that this implies bargain in different angles. In such a case it is simpler to cohabitate than to deal with a family. It is simpler and more esteemed to progress in the direction of employment advancement than to forfeit accounts for family. The other could be related with broken society is the part of women's liberation. From the beginning I should explain that this viewpoint isn't totally off-base however just a few sections which are lost. As we probably am aware it is the obligation of ladies to be â€Å"homemaker† in the family. This is an honorable undertaking that requires a great deal of lowliness and tolerance. Be that as it may, what are we finding in the general public? Ladies who are so fomented for their privilege with the end goal that they can't just be homemakers. The hypothesis of woman's rights means well however whenever tended to with astuteness then I am apprehensive it winds up accomplishing more misc hief than anything. A family needs both a man and a lady. The man is the head and lady supporting him. What's more, together they structure an atomic family.Advertising Searching for article on sociologies? From the above conversation unmistakably the qualities exceed the shortcomings. Rebuilding of family unit is a truly conceivable strategic. This could be accomplished through doing programs empowering particularly the youngsters the hugeness of family and atomic in this issue. This program could join â€Å"success stories†, couples, families that have effective lived to appreciate the products of family unit. End From the above conversation it clear that decrease in family unit is prompting the more extensive broken society in the current British society. In rundown family unit plays a vital and crucial job to the prosperity the general public. This can be exhibited by the amount we, as the general public, remain to pick up if this family structure will be reestablished. Coming up next are the fundamental supporters of the general public ‘breakdown’ they incorporate Changes of family structure, vocation advancement and women's liberation. This exposition on Nucle

My Best Friend Died Essay -- Friendship Essay Personal Narrative

My Best Friend Died Dr. Munter's remarks: The reason for this task was to relate an occasion that altered a mind-blowing course. Not exclusively does this understudy effectively achieve this errand, he does it with a specific measure of modest representation of the truth. The guidance â€Å"to appear, not tell† is wonderfully and inconspicuously finished. There is likewise a decent equalization of long and short sentences, surprising likenesses, and the feeling that the writer permits the peruser to see this occasion through the eyes of an eight-year-old. In general, the composing is perfect, straightforward in strategy, yet amazing in its message. I recall the van. It was the dim of dry earth, and it had maroon stripes on the sides that were a similar shading as maple leaves throughout the fall, however it was winter now. It was my mother's van, and I was riding in the secondary lounge. I was eight years of age, and she had pulled over out and about in light of the fact that she had â€Å"some miserable news† to let me know. My legs didn’t contact the ground. Spring 2016 Decisions - UGA Undergraduate Admissions

Spring 2016 Decisions - UGA Undergraduate Admissions Spring 2016 Decisions Next week, our office started reviewing Spring 2016 transfer applications. This is much earlier than I expected, but we are way ahead of the timelines we have predicted for Fall transfers files and final HS transcripts for freshmen. The 8/15 application deadline for spring has not passed and we are still receiving applications and documents, so we cannot say how long it will take us to finish or guess when you will hear a decision. If you applied for the spring term, please be sure to check your myStatus to see if we have your most up-to-date transcript(s). If you were enrolled in coursework this summer and have not sent a transcript with your summer grades, you should have one sent as soon as possible. To be complete and ready to review, we must have a transcript from each college/university you havepreviouslyattended. If you are attending a new college starting in the Fall 2015 semester, we do not need a transcript, as there will not be any grades on the transcript. If you are admitted, we will need a transcript when fall term is done, though, as we will need to post these grades. Transfer decisions are made on a daily basis Monday through Friday, and it varies on how many decisions we can make in a day due to the complexity of some transfer files. The myStatus page is updated in the early a.m. every business morning, and decisions are posted on the myStatus page and are mailed to transfer applicants. We generally try to review files based on when a file is complete (earliest to latest), but this is not an exact science due to complexities within the transfer process. During the first few weeks of August, decisions might be a bit slower than normal due to also having to input summer work for incoming/returning students, but that should slow down by the start of class (8/17). We will be reviewing Spring Freshmen applicants sometime in mid-late September after the deadline has passed and all files are ready for review. Go Dawgs!

Imagine just doing your job when you come in contact with the poisonous elements also known as Lyngbya majuscula, or fireweed. Your skin breaks out in blisters and welts and no matter how much you try it doesn’t stop neither does the burning sensation that comes with it. With overfishing and the destruction of wetlands competing organisms that usually keep the element from g etting out of hand, are dying. And with less and less organisms to keep it in check the growth only becomes faster. The effects of this are not only found in Morenton Bay, Australia, but worldwide. During Swedish summers strands of the crynobacteria wash up on shore as a yellow-ish substance. Dead fish pop out along the coast and if the locals get near it, their eyes burn and they can’t breathe. On the southern coast of Mauii in Hawaii the high tide brings in green algae so foul smelling that condominium owners hired tractor drivers to scrape it off the beach each morning because of the smell. On the Gulf Coast of Florida residents complain that harmful algae blooms are longer lasting, more frequent and bigger. This is killing off many sea mammals and is flooding the Florida emergency rooms with patients suffering from repertory diseases. North of Venice, Italy, a sticky mixture of algae and bacteria collects on the Adriatic Sea in spring and summer. This white mucus washes a shore, fouling beaches, or congeals into submerged blobs, some bigger than a person. Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 688 Downloads: 2 Date added: 2017/09/24 Category Advertising Essay Type Argumentative essay Topics: Government Essay Did you like this example? Provide a one paragraph definition of public policy. After researching the term public policy it was difficult to come up with one single definition. Cocharm et al, 1999 define public policy always refer to actions of Government and the intentions that determines their actions. Dye 2000 states that public policy is the outcome of the struggle in Government over who gets what, whatever government chose to do or not to do. Cochorn suggests that public policy consists of political decisions for implementing programs to achieve societal goals. Stated most simple, Peters 2003, defines public policy as the sum of government activities weather acting directly or through agents, as it has a influence on the life of citizens. Upon reaching a good definition of public policy seems to be very difficult. Birkland 2005 concludes that, all the aspects of the definition suggest that public policy affects a greater variety of people 2. Provide an example of both positive and normative sta tements (not the ones provided in your text book! ) A. Positive statements are statements that can be tested or rejected by referring to the available evidence. Example: A reduction in the use of plastic bag will help reduce the risks associated to global warming. B. Normative statements express an opinion about what ought to be. They are subjective rather than objective statements. They carry value judgments. Example: The new HST on fast food is unfair and unfairly penalizes the poorer class of consumers. C. 3. List what you think are the top three policy issues for government today. Indicate why you think they are important. The top three policy issues for government today are A. Health care- Most recently, health care is one of the most popular issues amongst heads of government. Mental health care and the cost associated with treatment are affecting the poorer class of Canadians. It is the government’s duty to provide health care at an affordable cost to ensure citi zens wellbeing. It is a policy issue because the government is struggling to meet the demand for health care. On September 13, 2010, Vieira from the Financial Post wrote an article, stating that there has been a growth in public health spending and had advanced at an annual rate of over 8% over the last decade. However, the government’s income is set to grow at an annual average of less than 4%. In order to meet the fiscal challenges the government must reduce public health spending significantly, otherwise other public spending is squeezed and/or taxes will rise. The is an important policy issue for government because they need to reduce public health care spending and at the same time ensure that residents are taken care of in the best possible way. (https://www. financialpost. com) B. The Environment-Global Warming/ Climate Change- Global warming and its negative effects on climate change are top political issues for government today. Most recently heads of governmen t from many countries met in Toronto to discuss how to reduce the negative effects of global warming. The earth’s temperature is rising because of the amount of carbon dioxide within its atmosphere. This increase of carbon concentration can be linked to economic activities. The amount future of global warming and its effects are uncertain. If the temperature continues rise, the Earth’s climate will change, ocean levels will rise -because of ice melting in the Arctic, low-lying coastal areas will need to be protected against the rising tides by expensive barriers. It is the government’s responsibility to implement policies to help combat the deadly monster. If actions are not put into place now, soon the earth will be of no good to fauna and flora. The Economy/ Recession-. The global recession is taking its toll on the country. Canada’s economic growth and standard of living (as defined by income per capita) are forecast to fall in 2009, and unemploy ment will rise in 2009 and 2010. Mary Ellen Sheets business approach to creating high-performing teams within the company was to create consistency within the company. After reading the case study Siemens, I have concluded that the motivational theory used by Klaus Kleinfeld was the job enrichment theory. When using this theory, employees who have control over how they performed their job or how they manage their job, are motivated to work better. Klaus Kleinfeld negotiated with the employees to work flexible shifts. He explained to them that this would help to accomplish the work more quickly and cost effectively. By accomplishing this goal, the company would make more money. This would then give the employees more money and job security. These are two big motivators, which would have employee’s performance increase. Klaus Kleinfeld’s approach to creating high-performing teams within Siemans was to encourage the employees to work together to get the job done. Many companies are outsourcing jobs to other countries as a more cost efficient option. Klaus Kleinfeld knew it was important for the employees to work together to be able become more cost efficient. This would allow them to keep their jobs instead of their jobs moving to another country. Klaus was able to motivate the employees to pull together, because he was very open with communication with the employees. Law states the guideline through which both people who are in a relationship have to stay together without marriage. As per the Australian Visa System, there is no minimum or maximum period for such a relationship[2] However, if two individuals are legally married or are a part of the same extended migration group, the de-facto partnership cannot be applied. Inside every living thing lives millions of cells Essays - Biology

Inside every living thing lives millions of cells that help our body perform chemical reactions and functions that help us survive. Inside this very cell holds different organs, called organelles, and different products of the cell. Each part of the cell has its own function, like a factory that manufactures products. Plant and animal cells are alike in several ways. Plant and animal cells are both eukaryotic cells, which means both cells include a nucleus. They have several features in common, such as the presence of a cell membrane, and cell organelles, like the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. The cell membrane is a semi-permeable structure. It only allows some things in (such as glucose,) and only some things out. (cellular waste is an example.) In the center of the cell is the nucleus, the brains of the cell. The nucleus controls what every part of the cell does. For example, it may tell the mitochondria to break down more food because the cell does not have enough energy. Of course, plant and animal cells also have many different features. This so the cell is able to supply the needs of the organism. A plant needs sunlight in order to survive, but animals do not. Because the needs of animals and plants are different, their organelles vary also. In addition to the cell membrane, plant cells also have a thick cell wall. This is to help the plant keep its long, rectangular shape. When looking under a microscope, cell walls are a great way to distinguish plant cells from animal cells. Plants are also autotrophs; they produce energy from sunlight through the process of photosynthesis, for which they use cell organelles called chloroplasts. However, plant cells do contain mitochondria. While both plant and animal cells contain vacuoles, plant cells have one large central vacuole that can take up to 90% of cell volume. In plant cells, the function of vacuoles is to store water and maintain turgidity of the cell. Animal cells, on the other hand, have one or more small vacuoles. Vacuoles in animal cells store water, ions and waste. They also do not have chloroplasts. In animal cells, energy is produced from a simple sugar called glucose, via the process ofcellular respiration. Cellular respiration occurs in mitochondria on animal cells, which are structurally somewhat analogous to chloroplasts, and also perform the function of producing energy. Lysosomes are membrane-enclosed organelles that contain an array ofenzymescapable of breaking down all types of biological polymersproteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, andlipids. They can only be found in animal cells. Lysosomes function as the digestive system of the cell, serving both to degrade material taken up from outside the cell and to digest obsolete components of the cell itself. In their simplest form, lysosomes are visualized as dense spherical vacuoles, but they can display considerable variation in size and shape as a result of differen ces in the materials that have been taken up for digestion.

A River Runs Through It essays

A River Runs Through It essays In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There nothing can befall me in life-no disgrace, no calamity, which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bear ground; my head bathed by blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanish. To each man there are places to forget, places to ignore worries, troublesome thoughts, and lost ideals. For father and sons that place comes to be the Big Black Foot River. Rev. Maclean, Norman, and Paul find solace in the river; discover simpler standards for life, structure, and religion. The rhythmic, methodical current of the waters provide reason and faith, a return to gods green earth, a return how life was meant to be in the eyes of a transcendental. The author, the brothers, and the father; and the quest for purity. The beauty in the strength of mere words and the immense impact they have on the soul of man has been the inspiration to many of the greatest poets and writers. The ability to combine elegance with knowledge and thereupon affect the thoughts of others using only paper and pen has intrigued men for centuries. Henry David Thoreau proved to be the voice of his people and thus changed history by expressing the ideals he believed to be correct, though the majority of the people did not always understand these ideals. "I should have told them at once that I was a transcendentalist. That would have been the shortest way of telling them that they would not understand my explanations" (H. D. Thoreau). Of the likes, Father and sons often were misunderstood. The ideals shared amongst often shrouded the men from society. Too, misinterpretation encircled Thoreau, yet through diligent writing and life experiences he began to tear the veil of conventional thought from societies clouded eyes. Man must increase his understanding of himself to understand the outside world. Had the brothers realized what that trickling fl ...

Commodity Trading in the United Kingdom Dissertation

Commodity Trading in the United Kingdom - Dissertation Example This research study examines how two of the largest commodity traders in the world, Vitol and Glencore International, conduct their commodity trading activities through the commodity exchanges in the United Kingdom and in its OTC market. The pit trading system of the years gone by is now replaced by electronic systems that receive orders from traders through the Internet to match these orders with other orders for execution of a transaction. In an electronic exchange the clearinghouse regulated by a supervisory body and the government acts as an intermediary, to deliver lower costs, security, reliability and a global reach for trading in commodity contracts and commodity derivatives. The OTC market in the United Kingdom is less strictly regulated than the exchanges listing commodity contracts and commodity derivatives, but this market offers flexibility for those with needs that standardised commodity listed contracts cannot satisfy. A literature review and semi-structured interviews with commodity traders with expert knowledge assist the research together with the case studies for Vitol and Glencore International. The research concludes that it is likely that the United Kingdom commodity market will continue to attract interest from all around the world with a promise for delivering more for less even into the future. Research Report Critique: Nursing and Midwifery Grants

Research Report Critique: Nursing and Midwifery Grants Citation of the article Gledhill, S., Mannix, J., MacDonald, R., Poulton, G. (2010). Nursing and midwifery research  grants: profiling the outcomes.  Australian Journal Of Advanced Nursing,28(3), 14-21. Introduction: This paper was aimed at outlining the contributions that were made in the field of health care particularly to professions of nursing, and midwifery by researchers who were granted financial support in their by The Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) Australia. This research paper is based on the findings obtained from a survey and focused on research grants awarded in the the time frame between1996 and 2010. 1. Substantive and Theoretical Dimensions relevance of research problem and significance The research problem that has been identified in this research paper is very crucial to the professions of nursing and midwifery. This research report exposes the problem of closing down of this grant program with effect from July 2010 due to the shifting of territory and state midwifery and nursing regulations into a regulatory scheme under the authority of national health profession. Moreover the author also points out at the problems lying around underfunding of the nursing research. The problems stated are thus of vital importance which the author has supported with the studies of other authors and have highlighted the need and importance of nursing funds in encouraging and stabilizing the nursing and midwifery profession in different ways such as leadership support that a successful research development provides and making significant contributions to advance the health care system. congruence between research question and methods used Given the authors’ emphasis on the outcomes of Nursing and midwifery research grants, this research is primarily survey-based and takes in responses of different nurses and midwives who have conducted or still conducting researches under such grants. Their fields of study have been taken in account and the relation of these studies to the profession of nursing, midwifery and health care. literature review Gledhill, Mannix, MacDonald and Poulton cite several previous studies as part of their literature review. The literature review that has been incorporated in the research report covers all the dimensions that the author aims to explore, starting from the barriers and obstacles in the nursing research, problems relating to the underfunding, proposed frameworks to make these systems better, sources of the funding to the benefits of nursing grants to the system of health care. 2. Methodological Dimensions research design A cross sectional electronic survey consisting of 21 items was conducted relating to the research grant outcomes. 71 former and current research funds receiver from across Australia participated in the survey. Respondents were required to evaluate the effect and advantage of the research grant on nursing and midwifery and the role they play in enhancing knowledge, education, practice, and how this funding support the professional their project. I think that the cross-sectional survey can result in responses that a high ratio of personal bias on the issue. 71 was very low response rate and I think the electronic form of the survey was one reason that limited the participants in this study. I think that another research design should also have been used for example content analysis of the research articles and publications that have been published as a result of the researches conducted with the help of such grants. population and sample Methodologically, I have concerns regarding sampling of this research report. (91.4%)of the respondents were female, while the males only comprised of 8.6% of respondents. There were Ninety three per cent (93 %) nurses in the respondents and only 7% of the midwives. There were approximately nine times as many females than males, 91.4% versus 8.6%. Coincidentally, most of the respondents were also nurses. I would have favored if the survey had engage a comparatively more equivalent number of participants on the basis of sex and the fields of profession i.e. nurses and midwives. Age groups were classified as: 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years and 60 years and older. 38% of respondents were among the 40-49 year age group followed by 29.6% from the 50-59 year age group, 19.7% were 30-39 years of age group and 12.7% of respondents were from the age group greater than 60 years. Response rate from the age group of 20-29 year was nil. This did not extend the prospects of thi s study towards young nurses and midwives or enrolled students or fresh graduates in the nursing, midwifery and health care degrees. collection of data Collection of data was well carried put considering the survey method that was used. Frequencies were calculated by means of the data analysis function of survey tool. Frequencies presented an actual count as well as the calculation of the percentage of participants individually, choosing each response category for a particular item of questionnaire. Qualitative data was examined by means of thematic analysis. Every response was independently coded, while identifying the subthemes and the clustering them into major themes. Data was collected in four spheres: demographic data, research focus and award category, impact of research grants and qualitative findings. Validity The results were quite consistent with the already done research around this topic. The result obtained from the survey showed that majority of respondents centered their research on midwifery and nursing staff. These results are in line with the literature reporting and support the ideas that most nursing research focuses on profession ‘endogenous’, rather than on patient ‘exogenous’ (Trayner et al 2001). The results also show consistency with an international comparative analysis carried out by Polit and Beck (2009). Taken from eight English journals, this analysis examined the 1,072 nursing research studies and their characteristics 2005 and 2006. The researchers used the scales consisting of a variety of settings. This could result bad for the internal validity as the participants might not have focused on completing the scale, rather they tried on completingpaperwork etc. 3. Ethical Dimensions confidentiality or anonymity The authors mentioned percentages of the respondents who have obtained different research grants, however, they did not mention that their names were known or not. Moreover, the authors have also not given any confirmation regarding disclosing the forms that they filled or keeping them confidential. informed consent The authors engaged the participants in an electronic survey which was suppose to be filled and answered by them directly. Therefore, I don’t think there is a chance of any negligence regarding the consent of the respondents. The participants engaged in the survey with their own choice knowing what it was aimed for. vulnerability of study subjects/participants We do not know that respondents were kept anonymous or not, therefore it is not certain to say that their vulnerability was compromised or not. research ethics board approval Ethical approval was obtained from the Queensland Nursing Council before conducting the research because the research was based on research grant programs administered by Queensland Nursing Council. 4. Interpretive Dimensions discussion section The researchers incorporated an extensive discussion section. It is a well structured section explaining the survey outcomes in terms of sampling and their link with the results, informing of the new techniques being used and new dimensions being explored, the limitations in the researches and the recommendations for providing more research grants in the nursing and midwifery field. The authors highlighted several explanations for their findings. The authors clarified the shortcomings that I pointed out earlier (population and sample) in their sampling in the beginning of the discussion section. They make it clear that demographics of respondents represented present demographics among the midwifery and nursing professions. The nursing profession in Australia consists of 90.4% females of which 33.0% are above 50 years of age. Most respondents were working as nurse academics or nurses than midwives and the average age was 43.5. Respondents over the age group of sixty corresponded really well, signifying that old age group researchers make valuable contributions in the knowledge body related to nursing and midwifery. The authors had also taken note of the lack of response amongst the young burses and midwives and suggest that this indicate the need of balancing a career along with personal commitments. The significance of consolidating a clinical career in young and fresh graduates was also highlighted. The frequency of randomized controlled trials technique and pre-test/post-test method carried out by respondents in this survey indicates the increasing trend towards a practice based on evidence in nursing and midwifery. This was unknown prior to this survey so it was a stepping stone in signifying the importance of increased research practices. The authors also pointed out the desire that nursing and midwifery reflect to understand experiences of patients and the health care. The authors proved the validity of the results in the discussion section explained earlier in (Validity). The discussion also point out the shortcomings that exist in the nursing and midwife research i.e. the focus on endogenous aspects such as examining what it is that midwives and nurses are doing, and how they deliver care, which should arguably be focusing on patients. They also pointed out that researched merely focused on main national health concerns which include asthma, cancer control, arthritis/musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, injury prevention, diabetes, obesity and mental health. The authors identified several benefits from funding led research including enhancing the body of knowledge, workplace efficiencies due to healthier workforce such as cost savings and better decision making attributed to up to date information. conclusion section The conclusion was well built. It adequately highlighted the aim of the research paper i.e. outlining the contributions that were made in the field of health care particularly to professions of nursing, and midwifery by researchers who were granted financial support in their by The Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) Australia. Respondents were capable of revealing the benefits of their research projects in the course of clinical practice changes, policy changes and the development of professional networks that adds significantly to the mass of research based knowledge in nursing and midwifery. Moreover, most participants were also able to publish their research findings and knowledge in various national and international journals. While highlighting the contributions of the nurse and midwifery led research, the conclusion also proposes a positive future of health care nationally and internationally through continued support for researches in nursing and midwifery to maintain the existing capacity of researchers in Australian nursing and midwifery as well as internationally. implication section I felt that recommendation section was a little vague. The recommendations presented were very general and were not explained specifically. In fact, there were a few implications that were outlined in discussion section were more elaborated such as advising to consider a close link between national health priorities and nursing and midwifery research projects to efficiently utilize the available funding and advising professional organizations of nursing and midwifery consider the overall benefits of the research grants to the health care consumers and profession. 5. Presentation and Stylistic Dimensions any missing information The survey did not include information about the effects that these nursing and midwifery had on the career of these researchers. Was it able to boost their career and gave them improved opportunities to work in better positions in health care? I think the survey also missed out on questions relating to the duration of the grants and their research. Information regarding confidentiality, anonymity and vulnerability is also missing. The percentages for response rate for any quantitative item have not been given. . clear, grammatically correct writing The writing is clear and easy to understand. The authors’ tone adds continuity in the article. The writing is somewhat grammatically correct and use simple words. well organized The research report is well structured. The information is presented in order. Research focusing questions and major themes for quantitative and qualitative data collection has been presented in tables that made the structure of the questionnaire/form easy to understand. enough detail, no jargon Jargons and technical terms have been explained for example the terms such as RCT, endogenous and exogenous were explained for the reader to understand. Limitations: The response rate was very low, of only 33%. Due to this low response rate, generalizing the results to nursing and midwifery research was a little difficult and thus a lot of support from existing literature was taken to do so. Conclusion: The research report is well structured and well organized. However, the research questions are not stated in a question form and neither any hypothesis has been proposed as such. However, the research problem has been identified effectively and has been supported with the results obtained from a survey. The results along with literature reporting were sufficient enough to fulfill the purpose of the study. However, a mixed method approach could still have been used such content analysis for a more detailed information on the subject.

Analysis of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 Essa

Introduction In 2010, the United States took the first tangible step toward universal health care coverage, with the legalization of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s most recent report the total population of the United States is nearly 309 million people (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010). In 2009, it was estimated 49 % of the population was covered under an employer sponsored insurance plan (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2009). The same 2009 data reported an additional 29 % of the population was covered under some form of government or public program (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2009). Leaving 17 % of the U.S. population vulnerable without any form of health insurance coverage (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2009). It is this minority that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will protect. Politicians speak of the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans in generalities but who are these at-risk people; the answer is a complex one (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2011). To begin with the 80 % of the uninsured are U.S. citizens (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2011). It is estimated that 60% of the non-elderly uninsured have one or more full-time workers in the household and in a family of four the estimated family income is less than $22,050 per year (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2011). If categorized by age the largest portion of the nonelderly uninsured, according to studies, is the young adult cohort (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2011). Access One of the chief objectives of the new legislation is to provide insurance coverage for all citizens ensuring access to medical care for all and this begins with expanding the coverage for the young adult ... ...mmission on Medicade and the Uninsured: http://www.kff.org/uninsured/1420.cfm OpenCongress.
